Shapiro stresses big contribution of Belarus, Russia parliament speakers to interregional ties

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The heads of parliament of Belarus and Russia have made a huge contribution to strengthening of interregional cooperation between the two countries, Minsk Oblast Governor Semyon Shapiro said at the Belarus-Russia regional forum on 5 June, BelTA has learned.

“A huge contribution to the development of our relations has been made by the heads of our parliaments: the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council,” Semyon Shapiro said. He added that many heads of the Belarusian and Russian regions communicate directly with each other. They address many issues, strengthen the economy of the two countries which can show themselves as a serious geopolitical force.

“Today we understand that we should be together. Together we are a force,” the Minsk Oblast Governor stressed.
The Belarus-Russia regional forum was attended by 19 regional delegations from the Russian Federation. Some of the events of the forum which will finish on 6 June were held as part of the 24th international expo Belagro 2014. The delegates got familiar with the achievements in the field of agricultural machinery, advanced areas in the development of crop, livestock and poultry production, modern technologies of processing, packaging and storage of products, innovative developments in the field of environmentally sound materials and non-waste technologies.
