Ilona Motskevich, a student of Rzhavka Basic School named after M.G. Gelovani, took part in the solemn ceremony of presenting passports at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus

Ilona Motskevich, an 8th grade student at Rzhavka Basic School named after M.G. Gelovani, took part in the passport presentation ceremony at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus.
The event was held as part of the All-Belarusian campaing “We are citizens of Belarus!”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Law of the country and the establishment of the presidency in Belarus.
Ten children from all over the republic, including Ilona, received their treasured document from the hands of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, Alexander Lukyanov. Along with their passports, the teenagers were given memorable gifts, among which were Belarusian flag, the Constitution of Belarus, a parting letter from the liberator, the Hero of the Great Patriotic War... The school students visited the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus, where they were told about the main stages of the formation and development of constitutional law and the electoral system from ancient times to the present day. And during the excursion to the Central Election Commission, future voters looked into the work offices of the staff and the Chairman of the Central Election Commission.
“I’m still very impressed by the trip,” Ilona shared. – It is an honor for me to attend such an event, to communicate with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, the leader of the country’s youth organization and receive the first passport from their hands. I feel a great responsibility to the future of our country, because now I am its full-fledged citizen. I liked absolutely everything! I even had the opportunity to sit in Igor Karpenko’s chair!.. In a word, I’m happy!”
