Local police inspector Mikhail Dukhovich is always nearby, always in touch

Local police inspectors are universal employees: they protect law and order in the settlements entrusted to them, protect the lives, dignity and rights of citizens, and are engaged in the detection and prevention of crimes and offenses. The profession requires you to be on alert around the clock, the work is not an office job, communication with people in it comes first. The local police inspector of Beshenkovichi District Department of Internal Affairs, senior police lieutenant Mikhail Dukhovich, has a service area of Beshenkovichi and Verkhovye village councils. These are about 60 settlements, where about one and a half thousand people live. And you need to find common ground with everyone, convey the necessary information.
Mikhail Dukhovich was born and raised beyond the Dvina, in Khorokovo village. In the district, he is on the roll, his whole life is connected with Beshenkovichi land. He graduated from secondary school No. 1 in the district center, then from the polytechnic school in Zhodino, where he received a specialty as a technologist. After serving in the army, he worked as a foreman in Belkotlomash for three years. “There,” the officer recalls, “I met people who had worked in the police all their lives, but were already on well-deserved retirement. In particular, the late Valery Ermolaev encouraged me to join the internal affairs bodies, which I do not regret at all today.”
Mikhail Dukhovich has been serving in the police department since 2000, for more than two decades, and advises young fellow countrymen to follow his example. He considers serving in the police to be a prestigious matter. Protecting the honor and dignity of citizens, standing guard over the peace and safety of his fellow countrymen, and being at the forefront of the fight against crime is above all else for him. The man is proud that he wears a police uniform, and patriotism and duty are not mere words for him.
Local police inspector – in Russian “участковый” from the word “участие - participation”. The working day of M. Dukhovich does not fit into the framework “from 9 to 18 o’clock.” The service is not easy, it is varied, you have to work in the evenings and on weekends. He knows the people in his district well, he has met and talked with many. After all, a local police inspector is not only a law enforcement officer, but also a detective, a psychologist who will remind you of the letter of the law, listen, and even shame. Many residents of village councils know his phone number. People come to weekly receptions of citizens at the public law enforcement center for help, clarification, and advice. They may call even at night to ask to calm down a raging family brawler or to bring a person who abuses alcohol to reason, to have a preventive conversation with him, to set him on the right path, to simply talk it out, to share his troubles or experiences.
Family and household issues make up the lion's share of requests. Villagers also seek help from the local police inspector in the event that a shop opens somewhere where they make moonshine, sell alcohol, or there is a theft (most often they steal metal from non-residential, country houses, left unattended, which are poorly fortified, where there is no alarm system). And people give ear to the officer’s reasonable arguments; many undergo treatment for alcoholism on their own and get a job. And then they say thank you for the fact that their life has changed for the better: after all, there are no more scandals in the family, money has appeared, and their well-being has improved.
Mikhail Dukhovich considers the gratitude of ordinary people to be the most important assessment in his work, which requires endurance and patience, knowledge of regulations and laws, professional ingenuity, efficiency, and sometimes courage. Two decades in the service is a considerable period of time, but, having a lot of experience, he is sure that you will never be experienced in his work: all your life you have to acquire new knowledge, guided by your own practice.
Maintaining law and order in the entrusted territory is also facilitated by close cooperation with the chairmen of village executive committees, deputies, and elders of settlements. The local police inspector is a constant participant in the meetings of the public law enforcement center Councils and a member of inspection commissions. Mikhail Dukhovich learns about what concerns the villagers during house-to-house visits, visiting large, dysfunctional families, the elderly, single people, the disabled, unemployed, and registered citizens. “The local police inspector must participate in everything,” M. Dukhovich is sure. “Everything requires his attention, his interests are affected everywhere.”
And at home he has a reliable rear, a family, to which he devotes all his free time. Relatives are always there, provide moral support, share joy and negative moments, which is worth a lot. Together with his wife Tatyana, who works as a nurse anesthetist at the central district hospital, they raised two children. Son Ilya is a graduate of the first school in the district center. Daughter Elizaveta graduated from Minsk State Linguistic University and lives and works in the capital.
On the day of our meeting, Mikhail Dukhovich was on duty at the district police department as part of a rapid response group in order to go to people who were waiting for help at the first call. He will come home only after midnight, police officers are on duty 24h...
On the eve of the professional holiday, Senior Lieutenant Dukhovich wished all his colleagues a peaceful sky, prosperity in their families, good health, career growth, joy, happiness and only all the best in life.
We join in this congratulations! Happy holiday, dear law enforcement officers!
