What was 2023 like for the agrarians of Beshenkovichi district?

The strategic direction of development of our region is agriculture. Last year, the agrarians of Beshenkovichi district faced a considerable number of challenges, including the vagaries of the weather. However, in general, the test of strength has been passed; new tasks lie ahead, the country’s food security depends on their implementation. A large burden of responsibility falls on the agricultural producers of the region due to the fact that this year Beshenkovichi will host the regional festival-fair of village workers “Dozhinki - 2024”.
Moving forward, looking back... What was 2023 like for the region's agrarians? What lessons need to be taken into account in order to achieve success in this special year, also declared by the President as the Year of Quality? The chairman of the district executive committee, Galina Unukovich, paid special attention to this topic in her report at the December final session of the District Council of Deputies.
Speaking about the loaf of the district in 2023, Galina Unukovich recalled that there was no precipitation for almost 80 days during the active growing season of the main crops. As a result, the district has lost a significant part of the harvest - more than 17 thousand tons of grain were threshed, which is more than 2 times lower than the year before. At the same time, separate farms, following technology and using high-yielding crop varieties, were able to show good results even in conditions of natural anomalies. Thus, the highest indicator for the yield of grain crops - 40.1 c/ha - belongs to peasant farm "Pshenichny Dvor", which, by the way, was recognized as the winner of the national review-competition "Land Use of High Standards of Agriculture", serves as an example in the rational use of machine and tractor equipment for restoring order on the land and carrying out crops and technical activity.
The gross harvest of rapeseed in 2023 amounted to 3.2 thousand tons or 72.4% of last year’s level; 1.3 times more corn was collected than last year (12.2 thousand tons) with a yield of 69.7 c/ha.
“The introduction of private business into agriculture is bringing results,” emphasized Galina Unukovich. “Of the total amount of threshed grain, 55 percent or 9.5 thousand tons were produced by private enterprises.”
Last season, a lot of work was done to create a strong food supply. There are 25.2 centners of feed units per one conventional head, which is 1.4 centners of feed units higher than in 2022. The regional average is 22.8 centners of feed units. Particular attention was paid to the quality of feed; it was prepared only in 1 and 2 grades. In 2023, 1,712 hectares of perennial grasses were sown, and replanting was carried out on an area of 583 hectares. And as a result, the structure of the forage field contains perennial grasses no more than three years of use.
The agricultural economy largely depends on the production and sale of livestock products. Despite the reduction in the number of cattle by 391 heads, since October 2023, milk production has increased by 12 percent. And Kleshchino site of Sushchevo-Agro LLC increased the volume of milk production by 4.7 times compared to the level of the year before, with an average daily milk yield per cow of 6527 kg. This is the highest milk yield in the area.
An increase in egg production by 7.3 percent and poultry production by 1.4 percent was ensured. A 13 percent increase in pig production was achieved at Sokorovo site of Vitebskagroproduct CJSC, and here the head of the district again emphasized private business with modern production conditions.
Despite the difficult financial situation, AUE “Vyaderevo” carried out a real renovation of “Plissa” farm on its own to keep heifers for 200 cattle places and 250 heads of young animals. CJSC ASB-Agro Novator created a dispensary for keeping young livestock using individual cage houses. The construction of a dispensary for 50 animals has begun at AUE “Svitino-VMK”. Sushchevo-Agro LLC repaired and replaced stall equipment.
In order to implement the Government's action plan to eliminate the causes contributing to the unproductive disposal of livestock, in 2023, agricultural enterprises purchased 6 milk pasteurizers and a milk taxi. To determine the early diagnosis of pregnancy in livestock, an ultrasound scanner was purchased, which will improve the reproduction of the herd and the safety of the offspring, which will be the key to future milk.
To protect property and control the maintenance of livestock, 6 video surveillance systems have been installed at livestock breeding facilities; additional installations are planned in Novator and PolitotdeltseAgro.
Agricultural producers in the region were provided with significant support from the budget - almost 12 million rubles, including from the regional budget - 1.1 million rubles. They were provided for the purchase of fuels and lubricants, mineral fertilizers, repair of equipment, work clothes and special footwear for livestock breeders serving young cattle from 0 to 3 months.
The technical potential of agricultural organizations has been updated. Last year, 4.7 million rubles were allocated for the purchase of 22 units of equipment. Ulla College updated its machine and tractor fleet for about 800 thousand rubles. Sushchevo-Agro LLC acquired a new drying complex, the construction of which is planned for this year.
The productivity of previously drained lands was maintained at a high level within the framework of the State program “Conservation and Use of Reclaimed Lands”. 1.7 million rubles were invested in carrying out crop and technical work on an area of 638 hectares and reclamation work on an area of 610 hectares. Beshenkovichi land reclamation systems enterprise purchased specialized equipment worth almost 2 million rubles.
The foundation for the future harvest has been laid. The plow is raised on an area of 5.8 thousand hectares. For the 2024 harvest, agricultural organizations and peasant farms have sown 6.5 thousand hectares of winter grain crops and 2.5 thousand hectares of cruciferous crops. The removal of organics to the fields continues. Measures are being taken to accumulate organic and mineral fertilizers for spring sowing.
